“The worst battle you have to fight is between what you know and what you feel.”
Life is a learning experience. That experience can be both a joyful one or a painful one, or anything in between the two, and often simultaneously. Sometimes you realize that the biggest obstacle you have in learning and growing or moving forward, is yourself. For personal reasons – I won’t go into them here – I’ve been in a battle with myself as of late.
When I saw the topic of Berry Singh’s Monday Meme this week, I saw it as an opportunity to focus on some of the positive in my life. The challenge is to share things that you’ve learned as a result of your time and experience in Second Life, whether the reasons are personal or professional, whatever those “lessons” have taught you.

After close to six years in Second Life, you would think there’s not too many things I haven’t done. What’s great is that I keep finding out that’s not true. Since I started blogging I’ve had to reach beyond my little sphere of knowledge and the experience has been a fun one. Exploring new places, meeting new people and trying new things – that saying ‘you learn something new everyday’ can certainly apply to SL. In fact, just a few days ago, I was told I was trouble for the first time in like, ever. Funny how that made me proud. (And hence the blog post title.)
For this week’s Monday Meme, Berry posed a series of “Have you ever…?” questions about what a person has, or has not, done in SL. Some of her questions had me remembering times in the past that I had a ton of fun and makes me want to do them again (like skydiving!). You can see Berry’s Monday Meme here. My answers are below…

This week for her Monday Meme Berry wrote about her blogging milestones. Since my blog and my posting regularly is new in comparison – sort of a toddler to Berry’s adult – I decided that I probably wouldn’t have too much to say about milestones quite yet. So I am doing last week’s challenge this week and because I am doing so on a Monday, the procrastinator in me somehow feels as if I am on time. Yes, I know. My logic is skewed – welcome to my world.
So last week for her Monday Meme, Berry proposed making motivational posters for Second Life. You know the ones. They were up ALL over the place – doctor’s offices, schools, company lobbies… I think I may have even seen one in a public restroom at one time. You can see her post about the topic here. She even linked it to a nifty website that lets you turn you images into a poster.
I think my poster is a little on the hokey side…

I am a self proclaimed movie nut and my inner movie geek is jumping for joy. This week for her Monday Meme, Strawberry Singh decided to dress up as a character from a movie that she loves. So now we all get to do it too! You can see the details of what Berry did here. (By the way – I love Labrynth too.)
I love movies. Comedy, drama, action, romance, mystery, musical… you name it, I watch it. But for this meme I decided to go with my all-time favorite movie ever. Anybody who’s seen it can probably guess right off from the pic – maybe even some of you that haven’t. [Plus hey – the post title sure helps too] 😉

Once again it’s time for a Monday Meme brought to us by the ever creative Berry Singh. This time it’s all about the trivialities of life in SL. (You can see her instructions for this meme here.) She, along with the talented Zaara Kohime, made some nifty mesh tees to make memes with our SL problems. These pics are my contribution to the cause, as it were. Not that the first one is a problem per se, just a little silly at my own expense. Hope they get some chuckles…

Recently, Strawberry Singh started up her Monday Memes again and this week’s challenge? Yearbook photos! Well more specifically, a yearbook smile challenge. (You can see her post here.) Basically, the idea is to take a picture of your av smiling – like you would see in a school yearbook. So I grabbed my friend Colby, whom I’ve known since we were in high school, and snapped a couple of pics.
Since the movie Goonies played a big part in our pop cultural education, I decided to borrow our “senior quotes” from there. In reality, I think mine said something about getting all the way through high school and still not knowing how to get to Sesame Street. 😀
