They Tell Me Love is Just a Dream Away

“And sleep, that sometime shuts up sorrow’s eye, Steal me awhile from mine own company.”

― William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Forest Bed

For the majority of this past week or so, I have had a friend of mine that I’ve known since I was 14 years old at my home for a visit. Brian and I met our freshman year of high school in English class and got paired together for a project on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. We bonded over our mutual hatred for required reading and loathing of our teacher – and we’ve been friends ever since. Sometimes months will go by between visits but every time we get a chance to spend some time together it’s like we’ve never been apart. Tomorrow evening he leaves to go back out on the road for work and I probably will not see him until the holidays, when our families will once again drive us crazy and we will attempt to keep each other sane. 🙂

Part of our usual visit itinerary is to watch a few of our favorite (and yes, sometimes lame) high school movies. This time around it was Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (his choice), Easy A (my choice), Breakfast Club (a must), and the wildcard – Get Over It. Given that the characters in Get Over It are working on a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream as part of the plot, we agreed it made a good choice for us. Of course it took us an hour and a half to choose this, we are nothing if not overly vocal and a little ADD when it comes to making actual decisions, and with interruptions for a Mario Kart tournament with my teenage boys and a run to the store for more root beer float supplies. So here it is, near 2:45AM and we’ve just finished watching. While he checks his email one last time before bed, I decided to write a quick post – which has now taken longer because he had to have some input. (Excuse me while I roll my eyes.)

Earlier today I had gotten the Fiona treebed from Trompe Loeil at Fameshed. I’d set it out and quickly snapped a few pics not really knowing what I would post about it. After watching the movie with Brian it came to me. If ever there was a bed made for a forest in A Midsummer Night’s Dream – this is it. I am wearing the Antarara Maxi dress from Zaara (available at the Uber event) – which is quickly becoming a store from which I must own everything.

And now, it’s time for me to go to bed and have my own midsummer-ish night’s dream. (Yes, I went there. No judging – it’s late.) Until next time…
